| CHANG Yung Ho |
One Divided by Two Inspired by the loss of the Kinmen bunkers' protective function since demilitarization in the early '90s, Chang Yongho will cut a bunker into two halves. The surface of one side will be deconstructed to show the structure beneath, transforming the defunct, stark shell into a conceptual space that embodies the traditional Chinese Ying and Yang. Born in1956 in Beijing, Chang
Yongho received a Masters in Architecture from the University
of California, Berkley. Chang is currently the head of the Architecture
Center at
Peking University and a fellow professor at Harvard University's
Design Research Institute. As both architect and artist, Chang has
participated
in two Venice Architecture Biennales, the Shanghai Biennale,
and a variety of international exhibitions. Chang was honored by UNESCO
for
his contribution to the field of architecture. |
