The Other Side of the Coast Teaming up as Da Lun Wei Art Squad, He Shi and Yan San's The Other Side of the Coast aims to uncover and discover the truth, reconcile past entanglements and face the future. Other Side is a research project tracing the lives and fates of Chinese and Taiwanese defectors after 1949, when the Nationalists took Taiwan. Documentation of several defectors' unusual stories will be on view. Born in Taipei in 1981, He Shi recently graduated from the National Taipei University of Art Fine Art Department. While in school, he participated in and curated a number of group exhibitions such as 2001 (X year) , Nanbei Emerging Artist Award (He Dao Club), the Taipei Biennial (He Dao Group), and CO2 Taiwanese Avant-garde Documenta. Born in Taipei in 1978, Yan San graduated from Furen University’s Religion Department 2000 and is currently a candidate for a Masters in History at the National Central University. |
