Shuito Legend Sited in one of Kinmen's historic, semi-abandoned villages, Shuito Legend offers visitors an empathetic connection to the village of Shuito through a tour of its architecture and folklore. As visitors meander through Shuito, motion-activated speakers reveal the multifaceted history of Kinmen, one that extends far beyond its recent military significance. Visitors hear the beginning of local legends, and are invited to ask local villagers to complete them, thus encouraging interpersonal contact and a greater familiarity with local lore on both sides. Born in 1964 in Taichung, Taiwan, Lee Mingwei received his MFA from Yale University. He has had solo exhibitions at the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in addition to participating in the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, the Taipei, Venice and Whitney Biennials. Lee is one of Taiwan's most accomplished and internationally acclaimed young artists. |
